I am a follower of Jesus, a husband, and dad to three beautiful girls. I’m also a pastor.  I’m convinced that Jesus came to make us whole, and I am passionate about serving with @newlifeforhaiti and standing with victims of domestic violence (documenttheabuse.com).

    Hello Neil:

Your interest in addressing and responding to Domestic Violence caught the eye of our RAVE (Religion and Violence e-Learning) research team. Based on our academic research, our team has put together a website to equip religuious leaders to address and respond to domestic violence. I invite you to view our site: http://www.theraveproject.org

    Sincerely,

      Steve,

I’ve gotten a little bit behind on my blogging, so I’m just seeing your note to me. Thank you for your information. I’d love to see how we could connect and make an even bigger difference!

      Peace,

    Neil,

Having seen your name in the news lately, I wondered if you went to University High School in Normal, IL?

Hey Neil– I want to congratulate you and thank God for your courage that factored heavily into the conviction of Drew Peterson. I watched you on FOX tonight and must say that it was refreshing to hear you be able to speak openly. This opens a door for charges in the murder of Stacy Peterson and I for one believe a conviction in that case is entirely possible. I’ve seen a similar case prosecuted successfully here in Washington by detectives I know very well.

Thank you for doing exactly what our Father has asked us to do– to speak up for those who have no voice and defend the rights of the poor and needy.

There are no words to express the grateful heart I have for your passion to help abused women. It’s going to take our church leaders to step up and fight for them. You have begun the good fight! Our God is an awesome God and He has opened the pathway to restoring defeated lives. I am ready to work alongside of you in any capacity God leads me to. Neil Schori, I love you and your family and I know you know that.
    Blessings and Love

What you’re doing is great but more times than not it seems change or action doesn’t take place until it’s to late and in this case not one but two women had their lives cut short.

I need help. Divorced my husband of 16 years three years ago now. I was still unaware at the time I told him I wanted the divorce as that I was even in an absuice relationship. I got a lawyer and thought, yes, he doesn’t want me to leave but he will be reasonable. But within days of hiring this lawyer, the mask was dropped and his abuse became very vivid!! I went back to my lawyer with the takes of fear, of him cussing, yelling, slamming his fist, hitting things and his threats to make this divorce impossibly difficult. My lawyer said I couldn’t file for sole custody as no record of abuse existed and that even with all that was going on now I did not qualify for an order of protection. I thought she knew the law and thought I was just stuck and kept her as my lawyer. The divorce took a year. By the end I knew who and what I had been dealing with: a narassisic emotional, financial, spiritual abuser whose continued violence was shown to my children ages 4, 8 and 10 at the time. He anise has not stopped. The harassing text, call sand emails and violating the MSA and JPA. He took me back to court to have more restraints put into the JPA and the GAL simply noted us as a high conflict divorce. Two different lawyers later, neither of which would go to
Bat for me against his abusive ways and my fear for myself and my children who are now being told terrible things about how I am to blame for everything. My forth lawyer finally believes but as now my oldest (13) is completely turned against me, not even speaking to me… We are in court still as nowhe tries to get full custody of him and bankrupt me more with his continued lawsuits and court fees. I fear the courts will get this wrong yet again and continue to allow this man to harass and abuse me and continue to teach the children his sexist, elitist, entitlements agenda. My kids and I need help. My oldest is such a mess and my other two are heading down the same path if I can’t stop this man. The courts do not get that each time they simply keep splitting things 50/50 that he is beating me down emotionally and financially and it is my children that are suffering. If he some how wins custody of our oldest, he will be beyond any ability to reason or to control himself as he will feel fully vindicated by the courts and his campaign to punish me for leaving will wage on with my other two kids as his next conquest. Is there anything that can be done??? Is there a DV expert that can testify to what is really going on here and help me in my plight for safety for me and my kids???

    Please!!!
